Jim McDonnell has had a respected career in law enforcement, throughout which there were many tough decisions to make and challenges to overcome. During his more than 37 years in law enforcement, Jim focused on innovative crime prevention and suppression strategies, and promoted youth education and mentorship as essential components to building healthier and safer communities.Starting in the LAPD, he held every rank from police officer to second-in-command. Then in 2010, McDonnell was appointed as the 25th Police Chief of Long Beach where he served for five years and implemented numerous improvements. As Sheriff of Los Angeles County, Jim continued his legacy of strong leadership and overcoming challenges. His dedication to his convictions and the support of his personal faith allowed him to overcome adversity and provide leadership in difficult times throughout his career. Sheriff Jim McDonnell recently retired from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department after completing a four-year term of office and is beginning the next chapter of his career. Join us on Good Friday to hear Jim share his stories of the strength he draws from his convictions.
