Youth Programs
DAY CAMPS - Winter, Spring and Summer
Available at Fairfield, Lakewood, Los Altos, and Los Cerritos YMCA's
Character development, leadership, social development, adventure and fun! Specialty camps, Aquatic camps and Sports camps are available at selected locations. Age appropriate activities for children grades kindergarten through Eighth. Trained leaders take the children on wonderful experiences which include activities such as field trips, swimming, amusement parks, beaches, museum visits, roller-skating, wtih a tremendous amount of fun and laughter. Session dates vary according to YMCA branch. Link to the branch closest to you for details. Sign up early, space is limited.

All staff are trained under ACA guidelines and all camps meet ACA guidelines and are annually inspected.

Splashers at Los Altos
The Splashers Day Camp targets two ages groupd K-3rd and 4th-6th grade. Splashers offers daily swim lessons and children engage in organized sports, arts and crafts and team building activities daily. Field trips iculde mini trips to local beaches, parks and one major field trip per week.

Resident Camp - Camp Fox
Located on beautiful Catalina Island, Camp Fox is perfect for young teens who enjoy water sports. Campers can participate in just about every water sport available, including water skiing, boating, snorleling, scuba diving, sailing, swimming and fishing. You can also enjoy volleyball, basketball and good old "hanging out in the sun". Sign up through the Los Altos YMCA.

Teen Caravan
Teens will hike, fish, kayak, and camp in tents at Lake Alpine in the Stanislaus National Forest in addition to whitewater rafting a full day on the South Fork of the American River. An adventure of a lifetime. Offered through the Los Altos YMCA.

Overnighters
Kids Night Out at the Los Altos and Lakewood YMCA's. Many different themes throughout the year. Dinner and Breakfast are included in the cost of some of the event. Your kids will enjoy such activities as swimming, games, movies, crafts, and all sorts of fun!!

Ballet
Explore the world of music and motion through traditional ballet. Ballet brings together fundamental dance instruction with customs, props, and music. Children ages 5-10 are welcome. Available at Los Altos YMCA.

Just For Teens

Teen Scene
After school child care for teens grades sixth - eighth. Includes recreation, homework help, crafts, organized sports and fun!! Transportation provided from many local middle schools.

YMCA Youth Institute
The YMCA Youth Institute is a nationally recognized year round structured youth program that focuses on youth development principals, technology skill building, leadership, service learnig, and academic support. The teens take part in an intensive all day summer program where they learn leadership, diversity training and technology skills. Available at the Downtown Community Development YMCA

YMCA Stephens Middle School Youth Institute
This Middle School Youth Institute is geared with the same objectives and activities as the high school age Youth Institute except that it is school based at Stephens Middle School and is both in-school and after-school. We teach technology-digital media along with diverstiy training, team building, and leadership through service and project based learning activities. Offered through the Downtown Community Development YMCA

YMCA Digital Arts After School High School Program
This program operated three days a week at Cabrillo High School as part of the High School after school programs. More than 100 teens have been taught technology and academic skills through this digital arts program. Offered through the Downtown Community Development YMCA

Youth and Government
2500 teens from all over California experience Government by actively participating. Includes mock trials, moot court, and culminates with a trip to Sacramento in February to run the state legislature over President's Day weekend. Delegations meet weekly at times decided within the group. Program begins in September with the recruitment of new members and advisors.

Model United Nations
Join Model United Nations where youth have the opportunity to appreciate different cultures, sharpen their public speaking skills, and gain an understanding of international issues through moc United Nation Conferences. Participants meet once a week to research, write, and participate in team building activities. The program includes one three day conference and a four day summit. 6th - 9th grade

Fit Teens
Mondays and Wed 4:15-5:15 From Boot Camp to Kickboxing we are doing it all. Get fit with other Teens. Learn about nutrition and how to care for your body. Learn how to make healthy choices. Our teens are getting fit and breaking a sweat while making new friends. Free to members, $5 for guests. Available at Lakewood YMCA.
